09/10/2022 Full Moon in Purva Bhadrapada/Aquarius "Fire Walk"

Updated: Apr 18, 2023

The Full Moon on September 10 @ 5:59 am (EST) will be in Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra Zodiac Sign of Aquarius. Ruling energies are Jupiter, Saturn, and Aja Ekapada, one of the eleven Rudras of Lord Shiva.

Our last Full Moon of the Summer Season lands in Purva Bhadrapada, termed “The Scorching or Burning Pair.

Much symbolism surrounds this Moon Mansion that, left to a vivid imagination, could create a fascinating story. Swords, Two Front Legs of a Funeral Cot, a Man with Two Faces, a Single Ray of the Sun, and the occult symbol Skull and Bones. Perhaps one or all of these have been your story this month.

The scorching pair and a man with two faces resonated deeply and connected me to the upcoming turn of the season.

The scorching pair perhaps translates feet to the fire, being held accountable for action and inaction and a vision of fire walking. Many cultures around the world practice firewalking. It symbolizes a test of strength, courage, and faith that leads to a rite of passage for the participant. The man with two faces resonated as one looking to the past to inform the one looking to the future.

The Fall Equinox occurs on September 22. The summer toil is coming to a close, and it’s time to put your feet to the fire and finish your summer work for a harvest boon. However, there will be a noticeable push-pull effect these last few weeks. Go too far, too fast, and you will burn yourself and your feet out, go too slow, and you will not finish your work for the turn of the season. Your hosts for this Full Moon, Jupiter & Saturn, will gladly show you the way to the other side of the fire.

Jupiter rules Purva Bhadrapada, and Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. The push-pull energy appears to have two distinguishable opposing energies. Jupiter wants to expand, and Saturn wants to contract. However, if allowed to happen naturally, the effects meld beautifully together. Jupiter gives you the wisdom, and Saturn gives you the discipline to accomplish your summer goals in a balanced fashion just in time for a Fall harvest.

Adding the Moon to this position will require a balance. The Moon (mind) will be determined, yet at the same time, lack confidence and faith that all will be accomplished. The Moon will also be in the company of Neptune, which adds mysticism or delusion. Keeping the faith that everything will work out just in time would be a good mantra to recite during this Full Moon. Much like standing on the fire coal too long. You. Will. Get. Burned.

On the same day of the Full Moon, Mercury turns retrograde, blessedly located in his own house of Virgo. A powerful time to look within, revisit a conversation, a commitment you made, or perhaps a vow of silence. Virgo is as meticulous as they come, so the work you invest here will complete it for good!!!

From September 13th-December 6th, 2022, Venus enters the combustion zone (10 degrees away from the Sun) of her enemy, the Sun. All things Venus will come under the scrutiny of the Sun. Within your birth chart, Venus governs relationships, your values, finances, material possessions as well as personal taste and aesthetics. This planet is all about the pleasure principle so a review if it is out of balance, will occur under the combustion with the Sun.

Our New Moon cycle that started in Magha, the home of our ancestors, comes to fruition in Purva Bhadrapada. This Full Moon begins Pitru Paksha (fortnight of the ancestors) a 16–lunar day period in the Hindu calendar when people honor their ancestors. According to Hinduism, the souls of three preceding generations of one’s ancestor reside in Pitru–loka, a realm between heaven and earth. It is said that when we honor and remember our ancestors during this time, they bestow health, wealth, knowledge, longevity, and ultimately heaven and salvation (moksha). Honoring our ancestors is worth walking through fire.

Key Themes of this Full Moon:

  • Honor your ancestors

  • Put your feet to the fire and walk your walk.

  • Beware of burn out, make a priority list

  • Recite Mantras of Faith

  • Bless your feet

  • Use wisdom & discipline naturally

  • Review your Venus activities. Are they balanced?
